Like you, thousands of Italians have chosen this solution to decorate or illuminate certain areas of their home, shop, or office! Why? The answer is very simple: An LED strip has a significantly longer lifespan than a traditional light bulb and consumes up to 25% less! NOT ONLY that, LED strips are also incredibly VERSATILE! They can emit white light, warmer or cooler depending on preferences, but also variable, changing color thanks to a mixing system. There are even waterproof and RGB versions, so you're spoiled for choice! Besides being customizable, they are also very practical! It’s no surprise that many people choose to place them in all sorts of positions… It’s a pity that many install them incorrectly!

Today let's look at the 5 most common mistakes when installing an LED strip!

Let's get practical! Usually, LED strips are sold in 5-meter rolls, with a width of 10-12mm and a thickness of 2-2.5mm: this is what you should find when you purchase it! WELL, let’s immediately see the 5 most common mistakes to absolutely avoid when mounting LED strips

1. Making a random cut along the LED strip.

You need to closely follow the indicated marks: there is usually a dashed line on the strip indicating the cutting zone!

2. Using glue.

Do not use glue to fix it to the surface, use double-sided tape! You should find it often already applied on the back of the strip, if not, ask your supplier. A quality double-sided tape allows the strip to dissipate heat better!

3. Not using aluminum profiles.

LED strips (especially high-power ones) need installation in contact with a heat-dissipating material! Aluminum fulfills this role excellently. That’s why using aluminum profiles for strip installation is not only an aesthetic choice but mandatory to ensure longevity!

4. Not considering the length.

If you use multiple LED strips, do not use a single power supply, especially for very long strips over 10 meters. This will allow you to have uniform illumination along the entire length of the LEDs.

5. Not considering adhesion.

The last precaution that many overlook: ensure the entire surface of the LED is in contact with the aluminum, which prevents overheating and subsequent reduction in lifespan (additionally: never install an LED strip at a right angle).   And finally, we want to add a BONUS TIP, simple but often the main cause of problems when positioning LED strips: be careful not to apply pressure on the LEDs, either during installation or afterward! You could damage them! Well, you're ready! If you've understood all the advantages that LED lighting offers, from savings to longevity, versatility to practical application, you just need to follow the few practical rules you've just read to install them correctly! N.B.: If you're not a technician, don't improvise. Always rely on your trusted installer. And remember!
